Detailed Solution

The Indian Constitution mandates that the Indian State be secular.
The Indian Constitution-makers realized the importance of the principle of secularism. That is why the Indian Preamble and the various provisions of the Indian constitution endorse the principle of secularism. By secularism, it indicated that the Indian state would neither interfere in the religious affairs of the different religious groups existing in the society nor would the different religious groups try to influence the government to act in a certain way. Moreover, it even means that the Indian state would not endorse a particular religion as its official religion. In addition, the Indian state prohibits the promotion and support of religious symbols in government places. Thus, the Indian Constitution has mandated the Indian state to be secular.
