Detailed Solution

The Ganga river is associated with National Waterways No.1.
National Waterway No.1 (NW 1) is associated with the Ganges, Bhagirathi, and Hooghly rivers. It passes through Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Jharkhand. The major cities and industrial areas like Kolkata, Bhagalpur, Haldia, Patna, Varanasi, Howrah, and Prayagraj are covered by NW 1. It is India’s longest waterway, with a length of 1620 kilometres from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh to Haldia in West Bengal. This waterway was declared in 1986 and is a part of the Indo-Gangetic Plain. The major agricultural areas lie in this region, and the waterway aids in the transport of agricultural and industrial raw materials and products.
