Detailed Solution

The East India Company took steps to improve the vernacular education system in India.
The East India Company made several changes to the vernacular education system. The East India Company appointed several government pandits, each in charge of four to five schools. The pandit's job was to visit the pathshalas and improve the teaching standards. Each guru was required to submit periodic reports and attend classes regularly. Textbooks were now used in the classroom, and learning was assessed through annual exams. Students were required to pay regular fees, participate in classes, sit in assigned seats, and follow the new disciplinary rules. Pathshalas that agreed to the new regulations received government funding. Those who refused to work within the new system received no government assistance.
