Detailed Solution

The Ashta Pradhan was a council of eight ministers that administered the Maratha empire. In 1674, Maratha leader Shivaji established an administrative and consultative council. The eight officials' names were Peshwa, Amatya, Waqia-Navis, Samant, Sachiv, Pandit Rao, Sar-i-nabuat, and Nyayadhish. The Ashta Pradhan's court decor is similar to that of other well-known emperors, such as the Astadiggajas of Krishna Deva Raya's court and the Navaratnas of Vikramaditya and Akbar's courts. The Ashta Pradhan is Guru Gobind Singh's attempt to establish a second line of state leadership analogous to the Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh and Shivaji were fighting the Mughal monarch Aurangzeb.
