The drafting committee was formed to prepare a draft of the constitutions for discussion. Its Chairman was Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
Seven people were included in the Drafting process. Drafting Committee picked B.R. Ambedkar as its director at its first conference on August 30, 1947. At the end of October 1947, the Drafting Committee started to look over the Draft Constitution that Constitutional Advisor B.N. Rau had made. It made some changes, and on February 21, 1948, it gave the Draft Constitution to the President of the Constituent Assembly. The Draft Constitution(s) made by the Drafting Committee were the focus of most of the debates in the Constituent Assembly.
