Detailed Solution

The 1830s were the years of great economic hardship in
Europe. Population growth was extraordinarily rapid throughout Europe in the first half of the nineteenth century. People moved to the urban areas from rural areas to live in overcrowded slums. Due to imports of low-cost, machine-made items from England, where industrialisation was more advanced, small producers in cities frequently faced fierce competition. This was particularly true of the manufacture of textiles, which was done primarily in homes or small workshops and was only partially automated. A load of feudal dues and duties made life difficult for peasants in those parts of Europe where the aristocracy still held sway. Widespread pauperism resulted from either an increase in food costs or a poor harvest year in the country.
