Detailed Solution

The 1878 Forest Act divided the forests into three categories, Reserve, Protected and village.
1)      Reserved forests -These are the forests that have the most restrictions. The government has acquired them. The respective state governments have declared these forests reserved. Hunting, grazing, native access, etc., are prohibited here. Only the forester allows access to anyone.
2)      Protected Forests - These are forests where the government has the right to use trees and other resources to generate income. These forests are less restrictive than reserve forests and most people (usually government official staff) have access to these forests.
3)      Village Forests - These forests are very less protected and the locals have full access to them. The government assigns the forest rights to the concerned village or community.
