Detailed Solution

The abolition of Corn Laws allowed the import of corn into Britain. But before this, the government of Britain had banned the import of corn. The laws that allowed the government to ban corn imports were known as the Corn Laws. As the population increased, the domestic corn production was not enough to fulfil the demand for food grains. As a result, the prices of corn rose. So, the industrialists and urban dwellers urged the government to remove the ban. As the ban was abolished, food grains could be imported, and the prices of essential goods like food grains went down.
