Detailed Solution

The Act of Union between England and Scotland resulted in the formation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain.
The Acts of Union were a pair of Parliamentary Acts approved in 1706 and 1707 by the Parliaments of England and Scotland. The Acts united the Kingdoms of England and Scotland, which had previous independent kingdoms with different legislatures but the same monarch, into a unified Kingdom of Great Britain. The Treaty of Union was negotiated between the two kingdoms to effect. The Duke of Queensberry was significantly instrumental in Scotland for the successful passing of the Union Act by the Scottish Parliament. Local folks in Scotland chastised him for his actions, while he was applauded in England.
