Detailed Solution

The Act which resulted in the formation of the 'United Kingdom of Great Britain' was the Act of Union, 1707.
England was effectively able to exert its influence on Scotland as a result of the Act of Union (1707). The Act was signed between England and Scotland, which led to the creation of the "United Kingdom of Great Britain." From that point on, English lawmakers dominated the British Parliament. Scotland's regional culture and political institutions were ruthlessly destroyed as a result of the development of British identity. When the Catholic clans of the Scottish Highlands attempted to declare their independence, they were brutally suppressed by the English. The Scottish Highlanders were forcibly expelled from their homeland and were not allowed to speak or dress in their native Gaelic.
