Thomas used spectacular public relations(PR) stunts to elevate self-promotion to a new level. The 1922 Lipton tea advertising gave the impression that royalty worldwide wanted to drink this particular type of tea. This was accomplished by displaying images of the princes and kings. The advertisement featured the exterior of an Indian palace, and in the middle of the image, Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught, the third child of Queen Victoria of Britain, was shown riding a horse.
