Detailed Solution

The alliance formed between two or more political parties to form the government is called a coalition government. There was a substantial change after 1990. In many of the nation's States during this time, regional political parties began to flourish. At the Center, this marked the start of the era of Coalition Government. The major national parties had to create an alliance with numerous parties, including several regional parties, to establish a government at the Center because no single party received a clear majority in the Lok Sabha. This resulted in a new culture of power sharing and respect for state governments' independence. A significant Supreme Court ruling that made it impossible for the Central Government to dissolve state governments arbitrarily strengthened this tendency.
