It is given that the angle of elevation of the ladder which leaning against the wall is 60° and the foot of the ladder is 4.6 m away from the wall.
According to the given data the figure has been drawn below.
Question ImageLet AB be the wall and BC be the ladder.
Then, ACB=60° and AC=4.6 m.
cosθ= base hypotenuse  
 ACBC=cos60°
         =12   cos60°=12
 BC=2×AC  BC=(2×4.6)m  BC=9.2 m
So the length of the ladder is 9.2 m.
So the correct option is 4.
