The anode voltage of a photo cell is kept fixed. The wavelength $\lambda$ of the light falling on the cathode is gradually changed. The plate current I of the photo cell varies as follows   

As $\lambda$ decreases, frequency increases and hence the speed of photoelectrons increases. The chance of photo electron to meet the anode increases and hence photo electric current increases
