Detailed Solution

The applications of curved mirrors are car wing mirrors and dentist’s mirrors.
A curved mirror has a curved reflecting surface. The surface of a curved mirror may be either convex (bulging outward) or concave (buried inward).
Convex mirrors are used for wide-angle views. If an object is placed near a concave mirror, then it magnifies the object, and therefore the applications of the curved mirrors are as follows:-
Drivers use a car wing mirror as a rearview mirror in vehicles because convex mirrors always form virtual, erect, and diminished images regardless of the distance of the object. A convex mirror allows the driver to view a large area of the traffic behind them.
A dentist’s mirror is a concave mirror, also called a converging mirror. The dentists use it because an enlarged and virtual image is obtained when the concave (converging) mirror is placed close to any object. A concave (converging) mirror gives the dentist an enlarged reflection of the mouth while refracting a small amount of light.
