Detailed Solution

It is given that AB=5cm, BD=7cm and CD=5cm.
The area of parallelogram ABCD, when AB=5cm, BD=7cm and CD=5cm, will be 35 cm2.
Question ImageEvaluating the given figure and considering ABD and BCD:
area ΔABD= 1 2 ×b×h      = 1 2 ×AB×BD = 1 2 ×5×7 = 35 2
Evaluating the area ΔBCD= 1 2 ×b×h
= 1 2 ×BC×DC = 1 2 ×5×7 = 35 2
So, the area of the two triangles is equal.
The diagonal BD divides ABCD into two triangles having equal area and opposite sides AB = DC.
Therefore, ABCD is a parallelogram.
Now the area of parallelogram ABCD,
35 2 + 35 2 = 70 2 c m 2 =35 c m 2
Therefore, Area of parallelogram ABCD =35 c m 2  .
