During the Gupta era, Varahamihira was a renowned astronomer and mathematician. "Pancha Siddhantika" and "Brihat Samhita" are two important and influential works by Varahmihira. He claimed that the world rotates around the sun and that the moon revolves around the planet. He even looked into how the Greeks perceived the motions of the planets.
