The astronomer, Varahamihira was one of the nine gems of the court of Chandragupta II. Varahamihira was a well-known mathematician and astronomer. In "Pancha Siddhantika" and "Brihat Samhita," two important and influential works by Varahmihira, he claimed that the earth rotates around the sun and that the moon revolves around the earth. He even looked into how the Greeks perceived the motions of the planets. The Pancha Siddhantika was a key source of astronomy before the time of Aryabhatta.
