This resulted in an attack on the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789, by a rioting mob to obtain weapons. A lot of political prisoners were freed in the process. These incidents altogether led to the outbreak of the French Revolution. The objectives of the French revolutionaries were to establish a republic, get equal rights for all the people in the nation, and create a sense of collective responsibility.
