Detailed Solution

 Concept- Finding the temperature of the sixth day, firstly we have to find the temperature of one day then calculate the temperature of the sixth day. Given, average temperature of the first 5 days of the year = 40℃,
The average temperature from 2nd to 6th day=42℃
Ratio between the temperatures of 1st day and 6th day=3:4
Total temperature of the first day to fifth day = 5×40℃=200℃
Average temperature of 2nd to 6th day, 42℃
So, the total temperature 2nd to 6th day is, 5×42℃=210℃
Difference between temperatures,
210℃-200℃=10℃
Suppose, the temperature of 1st day is 3x,
The temperature of 6th day is 4x
4x-3x=10℃
x=10℃
Putting the value, 1st  day = 3x
3x=3×10℃=30℃
6th day temperature 4x=4×10℃=40℃ ,
Hence, the correct option is 3) 40℃
