Stolon is sub-aerial stem modification in which the initial aerial branch eventually bends down and forms adventitious roots where it comes in contact with soil and later grows obliquely upwards. A runner is horizontally growing sub-aerial modified stem or branch which possess leaves and adventitious roots at every node. Off-set is horizontally growing axillary branch of one internodal length with rosette of leaves and tuft of adventitious roots at its terminus. Sucker is sub-aerial branch which arises from underground portion of stem grows horizontally for some distance and later becomes oblique to come out of the soil and possess adventitious roots in the underground portion.
