Detailed Solution

The basic requirement for a fuse wire in a circuit is a conductor with a low melting point.
A fuse is a safety device attached in series to the electrical circuit. It consists of a piece of wire made of an alloy or conductor with an appropriate melting point, for example, aluminium, copper, iron, lead etc. Suppose a huge current than the specified value flows through the circuit, and the temperature of the fuse wire increases. Because of this fuse wire melts, and the circuit breaks. On the other hand, if the melting point of the wire is high, then the wire will not melt, and the excessive current will flow in the circuits. Due to this, the appliance connected to the circuit gets damaged.
