The battle of Buxar was fought in 1764 between Mir Qasim and the British. The battle of Buxar cleared the way for the British to rule India. Mir Qasim took the extreme step of abolishing all duties on internal trade in order to help the local traders. He gave back the concession to the local traders that the British had forcibly seized from them. The British vehemently objected to this and wanted preferential treatment over other traders.
And hence the battle of Buxar broke out.
