The colour of the sky is blue due to the scattering of light. In light scattering, lights deviate by striking an obstacle like dust particles. Violet and blue lights get scattered more than lights of all other colours by the atmosphere. When white light enters the earth’s atmosphere, it gets scattered away due to the atmospheric particles. The amount of scattering is inversely proportional to the wavelength, so the blue colour scatters the most, and thus the sky appears blue.
