Detailed Solution

Concept- The liquid phase is converted to the gaseous phase when the vapour pressure of the liquid is equal to the atmospheric pressure of the liquid.
When a liquid is heated to the boiling point, it boils, turning it from a liquid into a gas. A liquid boils when its vapour pressure reaches the pressure of the gas above it. Evidently, the boiling point at which a liquid might start to boil is likewise lower when the air pressure is lower. When pressure approaches a critical point, the boiling point increases until a gas and a liquid have identical properties.
As a result, the boiling point of a liquid rises as air pressure does.
Hence, the correct answer is option (2).
