Detailed Solution

During esterification, first proton interact with O from -C=O part from carboxylic acid, this will creates a positive charge on O, which on resultant cleavage of C-O bond takes place in carboxylic acid. Hence, a positive charge is generated on C atom.

Later on, oxygen atom of alcohol interacts with positively charged C atom of carboxylic acid, this will creates a positive charge on O, which on resultant cleavage of O-H bond takes place in alcohol.
