The Brahmaputra originates in the Chemayungdung glacier of the Kailash range near lake Mansarovar in Tibet. It is the fifteenth longest river in the world. It flows through the countries of India, China, Tibet, and Bangladesh, with the majority of the river flowing outside India. Flowing eastward parallel to the Himalayan ranges it drains into the Bay of Bengal.
