Aurangzeb was the last powerful Mughal ruler in India. His Empire was vast as he acquired many territories in India. He died in 1707, and after his death, the governors of his administration and the zamindars acquired some areas and set up regional kingdoms. As these kingdoms strengthened in several parts of the kingdom, Delhi could no longer function effectively as the political centre. At that time, the British came with the purpose of trading to buy goods at low prices and sell them at high prices. But they expanded their establishment in India and later conquered the whole country. Thus, the British emerged on the political horizon of India as a new power.
