The British rulers secured their rule in India until 1857.
Given the loyalty and faithfulness of the Indian soldiers, the British were confident in their military might. The British were supported by numerous Zamindars and Kings. Before 1857, the riots and uprisings that occurred were small-scale and were quickly put down by the British.
The following are the primary factors that contributed to the British rulers' confidence in their positions in India before May 1857:-
1)      In the middle of the 18th century, the rajas' and Nawabs' authority was constrained. The Nawabs and Rajas lost their lucrative holdings, and the military forces were disbanded.
2)      The Mughal Empire was now in its final days. India was unified, and the British had placed citizens in several provinces and courts.
3)      The locals would provide the British governor with every single piece of information regarding the Kingdom. The Nawabs did not cooperate.
4)      Beginning with the state of Bengal, the Mughal emperor aided the British in establishing a solid foothold in Indian culture.
