The captain of a cricket team of 11 members is 26 years old and the wicket keeper is 3 years older than him . If the ages of these two are excluded, the average age of the remaining players is one year less than the average age of the whole team. What is the average age of the team?

Age of the captain is $26$ years,  and the age of wicket keeper is $29$ years

The average of age of remaining 9 players is one year less than the average age of the whole team

Let the average ag of remaining 9 players is $x$

Hence, 

$x=\frac{9x+26+29}{11}-1$

Multiply both sides with 11 and then simplify

$\begin{array}{rcl}11x& =& 9x+55-11\\ 2x& =& 44\\ x& =& 22\end{array}$

Therefore, the average age of the team is $\frac{9\left(22\right)+55}{11}=23$
