The name of the Banjara caravan was Tanda. Because of the several kingdoms and jungles they had to pass through, traders typically journeyed in caravans and established guilds to safeguard their interests. The most significant group of trade nomads were the Banjaras. The Banjaras were used by Sultan Alauddin Khalji to convey grain to the marketplaces in the cities. In his chronicles, Emperor Jahangir noted that the Banjaras transported grain from various locations on their bullocks and sold it in towns.
