Detailed Solution

Mesosomes are lamellar or tubular or vesicular extension of cell membrane involved in cell wall formation, DNA replication, distribution of DNA to daughter cells, respiration and secretion. Membrane extensions of cyanobacteria with pigments of photosynthesis are called as chromatophores. Flagella and pili are cellular appendages but not extensions of cell membrane. Flagella help in locomotion and pili help in attaching to substratum and host cells.
