Ribosomes may occur either freely in the cytoplasm or associated with plasma membrane of prokaryotes. These are of 70S type. 80S type of ribosomes are present in the cytoplasm of eukaryotes, associated with rough endoplasmic reticulum membrane and nuclear membrane. Matrix of mitochondria and stroma of chloroplasts have 70S type of ribosomes. Endoplasmic reticulum, golgi body and centrosomes are found in eukaryotes.
