Detailed Solution

The Central powers in the First World War did not include Japan.
Starting in 1914, World War I was fought between two groups: the Allied and the Central Powers. The Central Powers were founded in 1879 when Germany and Austria-Hungary joined forces. Meanwhile, the United Kingdom, France, and Russia formed the  Allied Powers in the First World War. In 1917, America entered the Allies as well. Again, Germany, Austria-Hungary, and Turkey were included in the Central Powers. Thus the Central Powers opposed the Allied Powers, who had banded together behind the Triple Entente, and were defeated in 1918.
