Detailed Solution

The Champaran movement was against Indigo planters.
In 1914 and 1916, farmers in Champaran protested against the British because of the limits they imposed on the production of indigo. One of these oppressed indigo farmers persuaded Mahatma Gandhi to visit the area. Gandhiji's presence led to the start of the Champaran Satyagraha. In the Champaran region, Gandhi constructed an ashram. Gandhi's group of eminent lawyers also organised a thorough study and investigation of the villages to explain the general state of degenerate life, atrocities, and awful cases of the suffering of the indigo growers. In 1917, the Champaran district of Bihar saw the emergence of the first Satyagraha campaigns motivated by Mahatma Gandhi.
