Detailed Solution

The Champaran Movement was against Indigo Plantations.
The Champaran Satyagraha was the first satyagraha started by Gandhiji. It was organised each year in 1915 against the Indigo Planters in Bihar. The indigo planters forced the peasants to cultivate indigo on the best land and didn't allow them to cultivate other crops. The demand for indigo declined in the international market during the 20th century. But the peasants were still forced to cultivate it. The peasants faced huge losses and were reduced to poverty. They were enraged by the behaviour of cultivators. So they opposed the indigo cultivators with the help of Gandhiji and organised a peaceful movement to present their resentment.
