Detailed Solution

The Champaran movement was aimed at the Oppressive plantation system.
Champaran was a small district in Bihar. After returning to India, Mahatma Gandhi led the Satyagraha movements in various regions throughout the country. In 1916, he visited Champaran in Bihar and led and inspired the oppressed peasants to organise a Satyagraha against the British planters who forced them to grow indigo. The Champaran movement of 1916 was aimed at the oppressive plantation system. It was also the first Satyagraha movement led by Mahatma Gandhi in India after returning from South Africa in 1915. The Champaran Satyagraha by the indigo cultivating peasants became historically very important in the context of the Indian independence movement.
