The Cherose were defeated by Raja Man Singh in 1591.
In 1591, Raja Man Singh, Akbar's renowned general, fought and routed the Cheros. By the twelfth century, Chero chiefdoms had developed in several regions of Bihar and Jharkhand. Even though they lost a lot of loot, they weren't completely subdued. Many Chero castles were taken by Mughal soldiers under Aurangzeb, who also subjugated the tribe. Even though he took a lot of loot from them, he did not completely conquer them. But the Mughal army under Aurangzeb took numerous Chero castles and they were ultimately vanquished.
