Detailed Solution

The Civil Code of 1804, also known as the Napoleonic Code or French Civil Code, was enacted in March 1804 by Napoleon. It was the most influential civil code of the 19th century. Under the code, all male citizens were equal, hereditary nobility and class privilege were extinguished, and civil institutions were emancipated from feudal control. The fundamental principles were personal freedom of contract and the inviolability of private property. The first book of the code was concerned with personal law. The second book dealt with the law of things and property rights regulation. The third book dealt with the method of acquiring rights.
