The Civil Code of 1804 was known as the Napoleonic Code.
The Napoleonic era began soon after the French Revolution ended. The Napoleonic code, also known as the Civil Code of 1804, was a synopsis of the reforms implemented by Napoleon in France. The code defined the concept of equality before the law and also preserved property rights. Hence it abolished all the privileges based on birth. Napoleon also annulled the feudal system and serfdom in the territories under his control. Moreover, through this Civil Code, he made many administrative changes while developing the country structurally.
