Detailed Solution

We know that coefficient of real expansion for liquidγr=coefficient of apparent expansion of the liquidγa+coefficient of volume or cubical expansion of the vesselγv

i.e., γr=γa+γv=γa+3α

since the liquid is same in both the vessel, so value ofγr is same.

From vessel A,

γr=γ1+3α .......(1)

For vessel B

γr=γ2+3α2 ......(2)

From (1) and (2)

γ1+3α=γ2+3α2

α2=γ1-γ23+α
