Detailed Solution

The colonial government proposed to reserve two-thirds of the forest in 1905. The colonial government planned to stop shifting cultivation and search an assortment of woods, and the individuals of Bastar were distressed. Nevertheless, some villages were allowed to remain within the reserved forests because they worked free for the forest department to cut and transport trees and protect the forest from fires. Afterwards, these came to be referred to as forest villages. Individuals of different villages were displaced with no notice or compensation. For a long, villagers had been tormented by accrued land rents and frequent demands for complimentary labour and product by colonial officers.
