Detailed Solution

Concept: The common passage for the entry of food and air is pharynx. Food and air flow through the pharynx or oropharynx. It is possible to transfer food, drink, and air through this tube.
The oropharynx is a structure that develops at the junction of the nasal cavity and oral cavity, where food enters via the former and water enters through the latter. These two paragraphs are afterwards split apart. The oesophagus receives food and liquids, whereas the trachea receives air.
This section serves as a common pathway for both food and air. The major goal is to stop food particles from entering the windpipe. An elastic cartilage called the epiglottis serves as a switch between the larynx and the oesophagus by enabling the passage of both food and air into the gastrointestinal system.
So, pharynx is the correct response.
