In Belgium, linguistic tensions occurred between the Dutch-speaking and the French-speaking people. This conflict ended when amendments were made to the Constitution of Belgium. One of the amendments introduced a third type of government, named “Community Government” which was established and was given the power regarding cultural, educational, and language-related issues to help the Belgians resolve the ethnic conflict. They are expected to work in such a way, that their activities benefit the entire society, without ignoring any community. This government is elected by all the citizens belonging to all three communities, that is, Dutch-speaking, French-speaking, and German-speaking.
