Austrian Chancellor Duke Metternich hosted the Congress of Vienna in 1815 with the participation of Britain, France, and Russia. This congress was an international diplomatic conference established to reconstitute the European political order. After the downfall of Napoleon, the French Emperor, Europe became extremely chaotic and needed re-organisation. The meetings were held from September 1814 to June 1815. The Congress of Vienna helped to restore the Bourbon dynasty, which was deposed during the French Revolution. Belgium was put in the North layout, and Genoa was added to Piedmont in the south. Prussia got new and crucial territories on the western frontiers, whereas northern Italy was put under Austria.
