The Congress of Vienna in 1815 was hosted by Duke Metternich. In 1815, representatives of the European powers that had collectively defeated Napoleon, i.e., Britain, Russia, Prussia, and Austria, met in Vienna to draft a settlement for Europe. Austrian Chancellor Duke Metternich hosted the Congress. The delegates drafted the Treaty of Vienna in 1815, intending to undo most of the changes that had occurred in Europe during the Napoleonic wars. The main goal was to restore the monarchies that Napoleon had deposed and to establish a new conservative order in Europe.
