Detailed Solution

The Congress Session at Nagpur was held in December 1920.
The main power of the non-cooperation movement was Mahatma Gandhi. In March 1920, he released a manifesto announcing the views of the non-violent movement. At the Nagpur Congress in December 1920, essential agreements were drawn. A system of naming and boycotting schools, courts, and councils was launched, boycotting international affairs and promoting the maintenance of Hindu-Muslim unity and non-violence. The objectives of the Non-cooperation Movement were to accept the principles of Swadeshi; Embrace swadeshi practices such as spinning and weaving; take action to eliminate social evils. In February 1922, after the incident of Chauri Chaura, Gandhiji suspended the organisation. A violent mob set fire to the Chauri Chaura police station in Uttar Pradesh, killing 22 police officers during a dispute between police and protesters. Gandhiji withdrew from the movement, saying "people with ahimsa" were not ready to revolt. Many leaders, such as Motilal Nehru and CR Das, opposed the suspension only because of violent incidents. Two far-reaching effects of the movement were that the Non-cooperation Movement became an organisation of many people, where lakhs of Indians participated in non-violent ways in the open anti-government protests. It shocked the British government, which was surprised by the level of the campaign.
