Detailed Solution

The conquerors attempted to control the Jagannatha Temple at Puri to win the approval of the local people.
One of India's most popular pilgrimage destinations is the Jagannatha Puri Temple in the state of Orissa. This holy shrine is dedicated to Lord Jagannath and his siblings, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra. Hindus regard Lord Jagannath to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Lord Jagannath is regarded as a non-sectarian deity because of his representations in other religions, including Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism. The Hindu community visits the Jagannath Temple as one of the four Char Dham pilgrimage destinations. The Ratha Yatra is an annual ceremony held at the temple. As a destination for pilgrims, it has grown in importance. Furthermore, it gained more influence in social and political spheres. All conquerors of Orissa, including the Mughals, Marathas, and English East India Company, tried to seize possession of the temple. They believed the local populations would accept their rule by doing this.
