The Constituent Assembly convened multiple times while it drafted the Indian constitution. Between December 1946 and November 1949, a period of about three years, the constitution was drafted. Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Chairman of the Drafting Committee, contributed most significantly. Dr B.R. Ambedkar oversaw the completion of the document. The Indian Constitution was completed and ratified on January 26, 1950.
