Detailed Solution

The Constitution of India declares India as a union of states. Article 1 of the Constitution of India declares India as a “Union of states”. It defines India as a union of its constituent states. This means any agreement or treaty has not formed the country among its constituent states, and no state has the right or freedom to secede from this union. Although the form of government in India is federal, it is a union which can not break. By describing India as a “union”, the Constitution specifies that no state has the authority to secede from this union on its own despite being a federal country.
